In the early seventies, a young entrepreneur with a vision, Mr. Giafar M. Beder A Kathiri, at the age of only 23 years, gave birth to his first company, Juba Enterprises Beder and Sons Ltd. Initially this company dealt with transportation, small irrigation works, and custom clearance of containers for maritime companies. Soon, the company took off and became a trusted and reliable contractor, and with an astonishing rapid progress it expanded into the agricultural sector and civil contracting business. In the civil works, the company started with access roads, landing strips, livestock reservoirs, and housing and ended up implementing large irrigation projects (as large as 8,500 acres), bridges, large pumping stations, and other projects in the field of civil engineering sector.

Today, Mr. Giafar M. B. Al Kathiri is the Chairman and Founder of the Al Kathiri Group of Companies which incorporates Badr East African Enterprises Ltd, being one the leading Civil Local Contractor and Building Class 1 in Tanzania and East Africa.
